Flying cars might not be a reality today, but hover boards are real. Lexus has just released their promotional video of their hoverboard, "Slide", and now the internet is stirring with the “Back to the Future” board. This board is essentially a skateboard without wheels. Its base has two cryostats, which are chambers designed to keep the superconductors at -321 degrees Fahrenheit using liquid nitrogen.
The video and test was shot in a specifically designed skatepark in Cubelles, Barcelona. The park was built with over 200 meters of magnetic surface below the surface. The video shows skater, Ross McGouran, floating across the skatepark surface and even on top of a pool.
The hoverboard is real, but it will be a very long time until it becomes available for purchase and works for longer than 10 minutes. It is still cool that the future is now the present. Find out more information on Wired and cnet.
