Toyota Motor Europe’s Wouter Dullaert explains Tamr’s features and benefits in the video below.
We like this video because it is another great example of how a technologist in an enterprise can make a huge impact on the business of an organization. It is also good because it underscores why Tamr is unique.
Dullaert underscores that tapping into the full value of customer information is key, “with ‘roughly 270 different databases that have customer data in them — and that’s before we actually get to the … retailer network,’ the question Toyota Motor Europe ( TME) is ‘how do we link all of that data together … and feed all of this back” into the business?’” The answer is Tamr.
Tamr makes mapping and linking easier. Tamr is a machine-learning assistant. When you are mapping the first source, Tamr works in the background, “profiling all of the source columns that you have and… looking at how you’re mapping them. And for the next source it will offer you recommendations … I can now ask Tamr ‘give me some recommendations on which fields go here.’” In the video, Wouter Dullaert focuses on six ways that Tamr is helping TME “plumb differently”, solving the problem of unifying disparate customer data sources:
- Learning While Adding
- Efficiencies of Scale
- Learning the Rules
- A Pair-Wise Approach
- Humans Know [Customers] Best
- Continuous Quality
